Kumon is now open in Paraparaumu to help local children on New Zealand’s Kāpiti Coast develop confidence in the basics of mathematics and reading.
Kumon Paraparaumu Education Centre is led Anish Madnani, who has a wide-ranging career from education, hospitality, customer service and retail banking. Anish chose to open a Kumon centre because he wanted a career where he could make a difference and follow his passion for education.
“I believe deeply in the power of education to change lives”, Anish explains. “Kumon’s method aligns with my personal values, especially its emphasis on independent learning, discipline, and long-term development rather than quick fixes.”
“I’ve seen how Kumon not only improves academic skills but also builds confidence and perseverance in children.”
Anish also has many links to the local community. He understands the educational needs of Paraparaumu and surrounding areas.
“I live locally, which has allowed me to build relationships with families, schools, and other community members”, Anish explains. “I understand the educational needs and challenges that local students face, and I’m passionate about supporting them in a meaningful way.”
“I’ve also been involved in local events, school activities, and parent groups, which helps me stay connected and responsive to the community’s needs. Opening a Kumon centre here feels like a natural extension of my commitment to helping children thrive — not just academically, but as confident, capable individuals.”
Kumon Paraparaumu is located at Level 1, 10 Seaview Road, Paraparaumu Beach, Paraparaumu, Wellington 5032. Classes operate on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 4pm to 6pm, and on Saturday afternoons from 12pm to 2pm.
Anish looks forward to welcoming many new Kumon families to his centre.
“I want my students to gain not just stronger academic skills, but confidence in their own ability to learn and solve problems independently”, Anish says. “Through Kumon, I hope they develop a solid foundation in maths and English, but also essential life skills like perseverance, self-discipline, and a positive attitude toward learning.”
“For families, I want Kumon to be a trusted support system, a place where they see real, steady progress and feel confident that their children are growing in the right direction. I also want parents to feel empowered and involved in their child’s learning journey, knowing that Kumon is helping to build skills that will last a lifetime, both in school and beyond.”
